Cole Grade Road GPVA Nationals Race Video Coming Soon...

What up yall? As a new member to GravityBikeHQ & an Old School GPV'er, thought I'd share. Back in the late 80's, not sure maybe 88, I took part in a G-Bike Race. The race took place on a 2.2 mile, 9% grade, stretch of Coal Grade Road located in some hills near San Diego, CA. ESPN featured the "SE Racing - Coal Grade Road - GPVA Nationals" race on a show called "Vision Street Wear - Action Cycle Sports Series". It was the first time this gravity sport was ever aired on TV. Great Race & Crashes!
Fast-Forward to present-day...For the past 10 or so years I have periodically searched the web for footage or anything related to that race with zero results. Just recently I discovered GravityBikeHQ & other sites dedicated to Gravity Powered Vehicles (GPV to us OG's from the 80's) now better known as Gravity Bikes. After reading a couple interviews & several Posts, many down hillers I raced with BITD make reference to the ESPN race and how it played a role introducing the sport to the world. I recall many people rolling tape & snappin' pix that day, so I figured they must be out there somewhere. Right? Yet no one can provide any footage or even photos, Except for a couple stock promo pix, of that historic event. Then it hit me. I just might have in my possession one of the only surviving VHS copies from 20 something years ago. I decided I must get this video up for all to enjoy. So I searched through box after box in storage for the tape before I finally found it. There it was mixed in with some old Porno tapes, the "holy grail" to alot of us 80's "Need For Speed" junkies. I wondered if it was even still on the tape after all these years. When I got home and hooked up a VCR I was shocked to see it was still in relatively good condition. I must of sat for hours watching it over and over again. Good thing I still have my G-bike! Anyway... I will do my best to convert it from VHS to Digital Media and post it on GravityBikeHQ ASAP.
Till next time, RunWhatYouBrungJC
